Lansing MI – Tour Update

Last night was a bit of a bummer. As I mentioned we rolled into N. Canton OH pretty early in the AM.  Spent the day working on finding local music and such shops to do some extra last minute promoting.  Not sure what time, but maybe 7-8pm or so we headed into Sadie Rene’s.  When we walked in we were pretty excited.  The stage looked really cool, there was plenty of room.  Plus a nice area right in front of the stage for people.  Buffalo NY,  as cool as it was, was not necessarily set up for a live show such as ours.  But we rocked it!  So walking into Sadies, which definitely is set up for live rock, was very exciting.  Then talking to the bartender/manager, we find out that ALL 3 local acts bailed on the show!!  One a few weeks back, and the other two just recently.  And without a draw the club didn’t really want us to play.  On of my 1st thoughts was of course… what the hell?!?!  Damn local bands.  AND… if the 2 locals just canceled, wouldn’t the promoting they were doing have still brought people?  Oh wait, what was i thinking, they didn’t promote.  Silly me.  So basically, if we played, with no draw, they still have to pay the sound guy, and they lost money.  Which I can understand.  And sadly at this point we have zero draw there.  Well, turns out one of the members of one of the most recently canceling bands showed up.  And he gave us this long sob story about how his guitar player just bailed and bla bla bla.  And that when the other local found out the problems they quite the show.  What the deal was with the 1st one, who knows.  Weak all around. Oh well.  Shit happens.  We’ll just make sure to add those bands to our list of “KONG” bands. hahaha 🙂

Anyway, we hung around for a bit then headed out around 10:30pm or so and arrived in Lansing MI at around 3:30am.  We set up “camp” at Theios, which is a 24hr diner across the street from Macs.  In our tired worn out state, we didn’t think this through too well. 24hr diner, lots of activity… haha.  Garbage truck, some local kids reenacting “stomp” in the parking lot… haha.  Besides that trying to sleep in the van is tough enough. But we managed OK. Then we hit the town, spread some flyers, then headed over to the venue.  Walking in, it looked like a great rock club.  For those of you the Boston area, it’s like the Abey Lounge, just bigger.  Dirty, rock, flyers, all over, ROCK! We loaded in, just barely avoiding a major downpour and are now
relaxing in the club. The people here seem really great.  Hopefully there will be a good draw.  But hey, either way, we’ll rock it and do our thing.

As an added note, it’s very weird to be doing shows and not to have Mrs Streak here.  Not just for making sure Streak stuff is taken care of, but just helping to put my nerves to rest.  I still get nervous before playing.  Once I’m up there, it’s all fine, but before time the butterfly’s are there.

Tomorrow we are headed to Columbus OH, and we get the pleasure of seeing my Aunt and Uncle!! Get some nice rest, they can hose us off outside, good stuff!

Even with the set back at Sadie’s, we are having an awesome time and are so damn excited to be out here!! Thanks for the support, and keep watch for more details and posts.  See ya!

Chris
